The Blind Men and the Elephant is another thematic creation by Xiao Longhua. The artist analyzes the elephant in the painting through measurement, while merging the story of the blind men and the elephant with the ancient Miao folk ballad Butterfly Mother, creating endless transformations. To express the concept of “light” and the process by which blind men, feeling the “elephant,” gradually form an “image,” Xiao Longhua employs the cyanotype technique, a classical photographic process, using large amounts of blue in the artwork.
