“Pureeman Was Here” is a book created by Hong Kong artist Kan Kit Man. It tells the story of a sacred legend circulating in Hong Kong’s Lai King Estate—it is said that if someone sees Pureeman appear in front of them, they will die the next day. Yet an old man named Lamp waits every day for Pureeman to appear. One day, Lamp finally encounters Pureeman, and the two embark on a wondrous journey together… This book primarily uses clay, photography, and painting as mediums, gradually guiding readers through the Lai King Estate of Hong Kong. Kan Kit Man was born in Hong Kong and graduated in mental health nursing. She has since worked in mental health care, painting, and music creation with the indie band Science Noodles, among other pursuits.
