"MAO SHENG" is a work that is difficult to define, please allow me to refer to it as "Visual Experiment Zine". My initial idea was to create a portfolio for virtual artist "MAO SHENG". I set the birth year to 2050 and used it as a clue to organize information. Then, I organized the images and text for creation.

In order to create works by MAO SHENG, I organized the photos taken between 2019 and 2023, carefully selecting the parts that could be used as material for the work, and then processing them. The original photos gradually turned into ideal works, which belonged to MAO SHENG and was his creative language. Text has also become a part of the image, helping me share my perspective with the audience and providing footnotes for each set of images to make them more complete.

All the images, naming of works, size information, and text are no longer separate parts, each carrier is a language that is interconnected with each other. The objective reality draws inspiration, and virtual and subjective associations crisscross, gradually forming the entire language of the work, ultimately converging on the "visual" landing point. I suddenly realized that MAO SHENG may have really existed. MAO SHENG is my scattered fragments of thoughts, stored in different photography devices.

"MAO SHENG" may not necessarily represent the virtual artist MAO SHENG, but can also mean "flourishing" in Chinese, or even more.
