The Dream City Association has long been rooted in Wanhua, serving people with experiences of poverty and organizing free art creation groups. Through these groups, the association accompanies unhoused individuals and those living in low-income conditions to reflect on their experiences and express their emotions through art.

This book presents the process of co-curating, building, and completing an exhibition titled Arriving at the Island of Dreams in the autumn of 2023, together with people who have experienced poverty. It also explores why we believe that such collaborative creative processes can help participants rediscover the vitality of life.

Through reading this book, readers are invited to understand what “poverty” truly means and to hear the lived experiences and voices of those who are going through it.
