The #TPABFaward was launched in 2022 to spotlight the vibrant and diverse world of indie creators, celebrating the unexpected sparks that arise from the experimental spirit of print and publishing.
Each year, five judges from different creative fields are invited to select a TPABF Award winner from among the domestic exhibitors at the Taipei Art Book Fair (草率季). In addition to a custom-designed trophy, the five winning teams are brought together the following year for a creative exchange, culminating in a collaborative publication — the #TPABF Award Collection, published with the support of TPABF.
The goal is to encourage and promote innovation and bold experimentation in local publishing practices.

SDL (SIZIBU DIGITAL LAB)
is a virtual label created in 2021, centered on experimental and multifaceted visual outputs driven by personal taste.
At first, I set a theme for this book—CHINA TOWN—imagining it as a fake magazine made by collaging many Chinese-style elements.
Starting in early April, I developed a routine of walking to a nearby breakfast shop every day, ordering a pork chop and egg sandwich with iced milk tea, and sitting under a tree in the park while listening to music and brainstorming new content for the book, recording inspirations in my pocket notebook.
Although I planned out a 40-page draft, during the drawing process, many new ideas emerged, and the content gradually deviated from the original concept.
New brand images, random visual ideas that popped into my mind while daydreaming,
and new compositions formed during the recombination of old works—hmm, these seemingly more interesting ideas began to disrupt the original plan.
As a result, SDL MAGAZINE VOL. 2 turned into a willful yet unexpectedly documented book.

How to play: Create an online co-editing platform—Miro, structure discussion frameworks and branches.
Participants can freely perform actions on Miro such as assembling, reorganizing, extending, configuring data, and linking, creating multiple long-term learning and discussion platforms. Starting from “reinterpreting texts,” it extends outward to form a collaborative learning platform map.
This publication serves as the “instruction manual” of the project, offering readers pathways to engage in collaborative learning
and become part of knowledge production and connection.

This is a book about buses.
In 2022, due to my work location, I started taking the bus for commuting, even though I usually only took the subway.
I used to be hesitant about taking buses, especially unfamiliar routes. To overcome this, I began documenting every bus trip’s details—
drivers, driving styles, internal environments—recording everything.
Familiarity bred comfort, and it eventually became a habit, even a game.
As someone who wasn’t good at taking buses (before), I also had an “unspoken bus competition” with a close friend (we were both bad at taking buses).
Bus-related conversations became a kind of tacit understanding, sharing “achievements” regularly and giving each other encouragement for progress (like
transferring buses or taking new routes).
The conversations will be included in this book.
Observation, collection, exchange, documentation, outlines, scenery along the way, extended imagery, and methods—all sorts of bus imaginations,
like pockets filled with miscellaneous and trivial but essential daily routines.
Just like the diverse personalities of buses, which is what makes them so charming.
“Buses are so stubborn,” we sometimes say.

The core spirit of the Bu Yao Lian Trio lies in their unique sense of humor.
They do not stick to conventional art forms and boldly try new creative methods and expressions.
The group is composed of Anye Tang, A-SIANG, and Harper, who create works in felting, comic spray painting, and clay, respectively.
Anye Tang’s felting publication is also their first challenge, creating a small felt book with six character portraits.
A-SIANG combines realistic black-and-white fine lines with abstract techniques, blending current events and imagination to create worlds that mix reality and fantasy.
They also use different techniques to produce graffiti works, using an airbrush to create detailed, realistic, yet playful graphic stories.
Harper’s clay creations feature the quirky and strange Dobby Family, with bold colors and bizarre three-dimensional sculptures shaping little imaginary creatures.
